This year’s Boston Calling festival is canceled

Organizers of the three-day Boston Calling Music Festival have decided to cancel the event due to the ongoing coronavirus epidemic.


The festival was scheduled for Memorial Day weekend, May 22-24. Over 60 artists performed on five stages at the Harvard Athletic Complex in Alston, including lead artists Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Rage Against The Machine.

The organizers of the festival said on Tuesday in a statement posted on the event's website that they had made the decision after several weeks of consultations with local and national authorities. The event is produced by a subsidiary of Crash Line Productions, based in Boston.

“We are heartbroken; however, the health and safety of our audience, artists, partners, suppliers, first respondents and staff is of the utmost importance to us, and we believe it was the only acceptable route to get there. 'before,' says the press release.
